PreK-2nd grade has a concentration on Movement Education focusing in on loco motor movements, personal space, developmental games and introductions into fundamental sports skills.
3rd through 8th grade begin working on life-long skills for general exercise, sports specific skill and life long sport skills. We lay a foundation of exercise and sports exposure that will allow the students to feel comfortable to participate in a wide range of activities in high school and beyond.
Coach Shawn Raines is the PreK3 -8th grade Physical Education teacher here at St. John Neumann Catholic School.
Coach Raines and his family moved to Knoxville when he was in 5th grade. He attended Farragut intermediate, middle and high school; then graduated from UT with a BS in Physical Education and a Masters in Human Performance and Sports Studies. Coach Raines also holds an Ed.S in Administration and Supervision from LMU. He and his wife Christy have 3 children. He states that, “There are many things to love about SJNCS, but one I truly enjoy is being able to have Jesus as our guiding light.”
